Abstract:
Magnus Scheving, the Creator and founder of LazyTown, had a very successful career as a world class athlete in the 1990´s. He travelled around the world and participated in thousands of live events in more than 50 countries. As a public speaker he has talked to care givers, children, teachers and professionals in the health section about how education about healty lifestyle can be entertaining.
Mr. Scheving realised 12 years ago that there was no role model promoting healthy lifestyle to children. At the same time obesity was becoming a huge problem in the western hemisphere. Mr. Scheving thought that the best way to change this would be to motivate and educate parents and children in all possible ways through entertainment. He wrote a book in 1995 called Go-Lazytown and from there he created the whole concept of LazyTown. LazyTown has now produced 35 TV episodes that are on air in the USA, Canada and South America and will be launched soon in Norway, Iceland, Germany, France and other countries.
Through exciting non-violent stories, including a lot of movement and music, Mr. Scheving got the attention of children from 2-12 years old.
In his speech at eHealth Mr. Scheving will talk about how LazyTown has motivated parents, children and people working in the public health, in a positive way.
